Will the Knicks have a run at the playoffs? Its all up to Amare.
Of course Melo is the superstar in the team. But if the Knicks are to make a run, Amare needs to step up. Melo gives the Knicks the inside - outside scoring option to go to when they need. We all know that, what the Knicks are lacking is a big man presence in the defensive end. And as the trade deadline is over and they can't make any more moves, Amare has to be that guy. Shelden Williams and Jared Jeffries don't have the size or ability to do that. That is one of the aspects in which the Melo trade hurt the Knicks most. They had to give up a big prospect in Mozgov. Not to remind the loss of Gallinari, and Felton.
The Knicks might have superstars in Melo and Amare, but without a big man down low, their title hopes should not be high.
